Red alert as world record Moorcroft vase heading to auction again

'Poignant' sale comes weeks after factory shut with loss of 57 jobs

A MOORCROFT vase described as an 'important piece of British ceramic history' is expected to fetch a huge sum when it is sold just weeks after the factory shut.

The Flambé Carp vase, which was designed by William Moorcroft, right, in about 1914, will return to auction this week.

In 2012, the same piece - an example of art nouveau design and arts and crafts craftsmanship - sold for £26,840, a world auction record price for a piece of Moorcroft.

This time round its estimate is £6,000 to £10,000.
