75% cut in 65-week delays for treatment

- Sentinel Reporter

TWO MPs have paid tribute to hard-working NHS staff after it emerged that the number of people waiting for treatment at Staffordshire's two main hospitals has been slashed.

Stoke-on-Trent Central MP Gareth Snell and Stafford MP Leigh Ingham have liaised with ministers and backed the University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust as it works to reduce waiting times.

It means the number of people waiting for 52 weeks for treatment has been cut by almost 54 per cent and those waiting 65 weeks has been reduced even more, by 75.75 per cent.

That's 2,758 people waiting for their treatment who have now been taken off the list.

The hospitals, pictured right, have treated more people by using ground-breaking new technology and careful planning of operating theatres, but much of the success is down to 'pure hard work'.
