STOKE City closed a potentially transformative summer transfer window with a quiet deadline day as they stepped away from any late drama.

Stoke had gone into the final day of business still exploring opportunities to bring in more competition at right-back, as well as a potential loan for a Premier League player they thought could make a big impact. But the work they had already done ensured they were comfortable enough not to chase new blood for the sake of it and they have ended up with 11 new signings while letting eight senior players leave on a permanent basis since the end of last term.

There is still scope for Andre Vidigal to head out to a country where the window is still open, such as Turkey, and he is not expected to be named in the 25-man squad that Stoke submit to the EFL.
