Council looking to transform derelict brownfield site
COUNCIL officials have lodged plans for a canalside development of up 141 homes.
Stoke-on-Trent City Council is looking to secure outline planning permission for the housing on derelict land at Pyenest Street in Shelton.
Most of the council-owned site, between Stoke Road, Bedford Road, Shearer Street and the Caldon Canal, has been cleared for some time. But the council is proposing to demolish the remaining buildings on the land to make way for the new homes.
These include the former Harry Ramjams pub and a canalside warehouse both classed as 'non-designated heritage assets.' The design and layout of the proposed housing will be the subject of a future application.
