Pair banned after firm made 461,000 nuisance calls in only nine months

BUSINESSMEN Mohammed Liaqat and Rubani Ghulam have been banned from being directors after their home improvements firm made more than 460,000 nuisance calls in a nine-month spell.

Hanley-based Posh Windows UK Ltd was also fined £150,000.

The sales calls were made to people who'd registered with a service not to receive marketing calls. Now Liaqat, aged 37, of Clarke Street, Shelton, and Ghulam, aged 55, of Thorndyke Street, Shelton, have been disqualified as company directors for four years.

The Government's Insolvency Service says the pair were directors of the Cheapside firm, which specialised in products including windows, doors and conservatories. They were appointed as directors in 2018.

The company first came to the attention of the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) in January 2021 when one of its employees received an unsolicited direct marketing call in the evening. The caller referred to Government grants for home improvements and wanted to book an appointment for the following day.
