Officials to look into reopening estate link road

Rethink comes after 721 sign petition for gate
HIGHWAYS officials will look at proposals to reopen an ‘isolated’ estate’s access road - after hundreds of people backed a campaign.
The only way vehicles can get in or out of Newstead is along Barlaston Road, which can mean a lengthy detour via Cocknage or Wedgwood if that road is closed.
Sherborne Close provides a link to the neighbouring industrial estate and Trentham Road, but a barrier was placed across the street to prevent it being used as a ‘rat run’ about 25 years ago.
Now 721 people have signed a petition calling for Sherborne Close to be reopened to traffic.
