The 23-year-old ‘jumped at opportunity’ for somewhere to live
A MAN who came to the UK illegally in a lorry twice was caught inside a cannabis factory.
Hysen Xhakolli, above right, spent two weeks watering the plants at an address in Meir before police swooped and arrested him.
Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court heard officers found 30 cannabis plants. Now the 23-year-old Albanian national has been locked up for three months - but is set to be freed ‘immediately’ due to the time spent on remand.
Prosecutor Alison Whalley said: “He was involved in taking care of 30 cannabis plants which were found at an address in Grangewood Road, Meir. At the time he was homeless and was looking after the cannabis plants in return for food and accommodation.”
Xhakolli, of no fixed address, pleaded guilty to production of class B drug.
