Johnson recalls glory days with ‘positive’ Moore

MARVIN Johnson has reflected on his time under Darren Moore at Sheffield Wednesday and in particular the League One playoffs in 2023.

That promotion was hard earned especially after losing 4-0 to Peterborough United in the semifinal first leg at London Road only to turn it around in sensational style at Hillsborough in the second leg.

The Owls went on to beat Barnsley at Wembley in the final. It wasn’t an easy time that season and new Port Vale signing Johnson, right, explained: “Well | think it was possibly harder than it could have been. Everybody would say we had arguably the best team in the league and the best players in the league and every game was a lot of the team’s cup finals. That's how they described it. So it was a lot harder to then have to perform.

| remember we went 21 games without losing and we went away to Forest Green and they beat us. That's just football. It was a lot harder then. But we had young boys and experienced boys and that was a key factor.
