TV chef cuts ribbon on £200k upgrade at school where staff had to open windows as equipment couldn't cope with temperature
PUPILS welcomed TV chef Thom Bateman to open their new £200,000 school kitchen.
The Great British Menu star cut the ribbon as St Maria Goretti Catholic Academy officially unveiled the refurbishment - which has been 11 years in the making.
The future-proofing upgrade will be a huge help in turning out healthy and nutritious meals for 220 pupils. It features new ovens and other equipment, including the replacement of an aged extraction unit that was unable to cope with the amount of heat generated, forcing staff to open the windows.
