Gran's joy at £250,000 win on lottery – just weeks after she nearly packed it in

NHS worker Deborah Phillips was in the A&E department at Royal Stoke when she found out she had won £250,000 on the People's Postcode Lottery.

Partner Earl Cameron rang to tell her that lottery representatives were at their home in Trentham - waiting to hand over the cheque for a quarter of a million pounds.

Deborah, aged 58, was one of three neighbours celebrating after ST4 8BN was announced as the winner of one of the lottery's newest prizes today.

Every player in the winning postcode receives £250,000 for each ticket they have.

And Deborah revealed she had been on the cusp of cancelling her lottery subscription a few weeks ago. The grandmother of seven said: "Thankfully I kept it on. I would have been sick as a pig if I'd stopped.
