Organisers excited and grateful as Sentinel Golf competitions reach quarter final stage

Clash lived up to expectations!

ON paper the clash between previous Sentinel Golf Shield semifinalists Ian Bennett and Andrew Buckle looked like being the tie of the round - and so it proved.

The match between the two Wolstanton Golf Club members was an extremely close encounter before Andrew emerged victorious on the final hole.

Speaking shortly after the match Andrew, pictured left, who only joined Wolstanton in 2023, said: “The match against Ian was played in great spirit and there was never more than one hole in it.

“Ian actually went one up on the 16th hole but I managed to birdie 17 and it came down to the last hole where I managed to get up and down from the greenside bunker to win the match. Ian was a great opponent in a hard fought match which really could have gone either way.”

Another Wolstanton golfer, Michael Brooke joins Andrew in the quarter final stage after an impressive win way against Harrey Mathey (Market Drayton) where he came out on top 4&3.

Michael said: “Harry was great company, I have known him for a few years now, and Market Drayton is a cracking course that is in immaculate condition.
