CHECKLEY 2nd XI picked up just their second NSSCL Division One win of the season with victory at Silverdale.

- Chris Travers

Peter Appleboam was the star turn for Checkley in the formative stages of the contest as his haul of 6-24 sent Silverdale sliding to 102 all out.

Dan Amos also chipped in with a couple of wickets, while Matthew Moore (31) and Zoltan Toth (25) made the most headway with the bat.

In reply, Adam Cottier made 26, but it was Lorcan Potts who masterminded Checkley's successful chase.

Potts hit 11 fours in a fine 61 not out to complete an eight-wicket triumph for the visitors.

Porthill Park seconds were also in clinical form to win at home against Sandbach.

Visitors Sandbach could only manage to reach 146 all out at the Old County Ground.

Umer Waheed top-scored with 52, an innings which featured nine fours, while Ather Abid weighed in with 44.

Harry Stubbs led the Porthill Park attack with 4-24, backed up by two wickets apiece for Esa Mohamed, Leo Plummer and Jake Plummer.

Joe Bridgewater compiled a run-a-ball 24 in Porthill Park's response before the baton was passed to Connor Uren.
