Cars parked off road to block telegraph poles being put up

Residents’ fury at broadband company

NEIGHBOURS are parking vehicles off road - to try to stop telegraph poles springing up on their street.

The Electronic Communications Act 2003 means broadband companies do not need planning permission for telegraph poles.

But residents can object to the company if they are directly affected.

Now residents fear the telegraph poles planned by Lightspeed will affect house prices on the estate off Greenmeadows Road in Madeley - where high-speed broadband is already provided via underground cables.

Businessman Mark Bennett, of Arbour Close, Madeley, said: "Children and people in the community use this grass as an amenity and Lightspeed wants to ruin it by putting huge poles here.

"The estate has been here for 55 years and Lightspeed is running over everything because it can.
