Badenoch blames 'net zero' quest for potbank's demise

Government insists plans will create jobs

CONSERVATIVE leader Kemi Badenoch highlighted the collapse of Moorcroft Pottery as she condemned the Government's energy policy in Parliament.

The Burslem ceramics firm ceased trading last week after more than a century, with the loss of 57 jobs, after being hit by rocketing energy costs.

During Prime Minister’s Questions on Wednesday, Ms Badenoch cited Moorcroft as she railed against Keir Starmer's approach to net zero, saying it would result in even higher energy costs and more job losses.

Sir Keir insisted that net zero is ‘an opportunity to be seized’ and that the Government's investment in renewable energy would create jobs.
