CM Majhi: Adikabi Sarala Das laid the foundation of Odia literature

“ADIKABI Sarala Das laid the foundation of Odia language and literature,” asserted Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, addressing the grand celebration of the 600th birth anniversary of the legendary poet.
The event, which also marked the 45th annual gathering of the Sarala Sahitya Sansad, was held in the presence of President Droupadi Murmu, making it a historic occasion for the state and the Odia people.
CM Majhi highlighted the unparalleled contributions of Sarala Das, the father of Odia literature, whose Mahabharata in Odia made the epic accessible to the common people. “His Mahabharata remains a timeless masterpiece, not just in regional literary tradition, but in the entire Indian literary landscape,” said Majhi, reflecting on the enduring legacy of Sarala Das in shaping the literary world.
