QC stops Day 3 of UPI protest

Amid remarks deemed to be inciting to sedition, the Quezon City government yesterday denied the request of the United People’s Initiative (UPI) for another extension of its protest at the EDSA people power monument.

Elmo San Diego, head of the city’s Department of Public Order and Safety, said a letter was sent to UPI executive director Mark Dilson Bertuldo informing the group that the request to hold a rally had been denied by the local government.

“We regret to inform you that this office cannot grant your request to conduct such activity as you have violated one of the terms and conditions stated in the rally permit issued on Nov. 16,” the letter stated.
