PEZA and BuCor Sign MOA for Mega Ecozone Development

The Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA) and the Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) as the next step in developing the country's first mega ecozone.

PEZA Director General Tereso O. Panga and BuCor Director General Gregorio Pio P. Catapang Jr. officially sealed the agreement on January 24, 2025, allocating an initial area of over 2,000 hectares of the Iwahig Prison and Penal Farm in Puerto Princesa, Palawan, for development as the Palawan Mega Economic Zone (PMEZ).
"We are proud to have reached this important step in our Palawan ecozone development," said the PEZA chief, highlighting its recent partnership with the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) to strengthen the Philippine workforce.
