Over the moon This year's Mid-Autumn Festival introduces new mooncake flavors to try out

Did you know that worshiping the moon brings in a bountiful harvest? In China, this ancient practice is believed to be behind the country's agricultural prosperity.

The Mid-Autumn festival recognizes Chang'e the Moon Goddess' kindness in blessing the crops. To signify their gratitude for Chang'e, many Chinese households celebrate the magical event by lighting lanterns, participating in dragon dances, and sharing culinary offerings, such as mooncakes.

These round-shaped pastries have symbolized reunions for over 2,000 years. Participants of the festival serve mooncakes to communicate with the deities, give thanks to them, and ask for their continued guidance.

Two particular mooncake flavors have emerged to show a dynamic new facet to China's unparalleled devotion to their culture.
