No More Toll Plazas by 2027, Says MPTC

The Metro Pacific Group is preparing to remove barriers across all tollways in its portfolio, a project that could mean faster travel for motorists once rolled out by 2027.

Metro Pacific Tollways Corp. (MPTC) is awaiting government approval of its proposal to dismantle toll plazas in its projects to achieve a barrier-free ecosystem.

MPTC operates and maintains some of the biggest toll projects in the Philippines, including the North Luzon Expressway, Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway, and Manila-Cavite Expressway.

In a recent interview with reporters, MPTC president and CEO Jose Maria Lim said the proposal, if approved, would enable a free-flowing traffic in tollways. This, he said, is going to change the game for motorists, who often find themselves taking time queuing in toll plazas.
