When the idea of hosting the TV5 music countdown program, “Vibe,” was broached to him, actor Joao Constancia met it with excitement and enthusiasm.

MY TURN TO BE IN THE HOT SEAT

Cesar 'Buboy' Montano (second from left) stars in the Sinag Maynila Independent Film Festival feature film, 'Selda Tres,' with JM de Guzman and Carla Abellana. He plays a half-brother to JM's character, who was set up and imprisoned in the film directed by GB Sampedro.

“At first, I was excited, of course, because it’s a new opportunity, a new show in another network,” said Joao, one of the winners of the reality show “Pinoy Boyband Superstar” and a member of the all-male group Boyband PH, in a virtual interview with The STAR. “I was like, ‘Yeah, I’m excited, and I’m down (for) it.’”

His years of singing and performing with his group, plus hosting online shows, come in handy for Joao in being a “Vibe” jock.

“It’s also like, you know, another type of opportunity to take over kasi hindi lang pala performances ang gagawin ko, pati hosting rin pala (it's a chance to grab in which it's not only about performing, but also hosting),” shared he.

It’s also a great opportunity for him to tap his hosting side and revisit, in a way, his interest in music, particularly Original Pilipino Music (OPM).

After his stint and time in a boyband, Joao has dabbled in acting and eventually learned to love it.
