Marcos orders state agencies to shift 10% of fleet into EVs

To hasten the country's shift to electric vehicles (EVS), President Marcos is targeting a 10 percent share of EVs in government service vehicles, an official of the Department of Energy (DOE) said.

According to DOE Undersecretary Felix William Fuentebella, the President has ordered concerned agencies to speed up the implementation of a system that would allow state offices to acquire a significant number of EVs.

"Yes (the President is) targeting 10 percent of the fleet should be electric vehicles," the official said in a Palace briefing.

Fuentebella said apart from purchasing EVs for the government fleet, the President also wants corresponding charging stations for those vehicles.

He said the President has already created an interagency body, led by the DOE, for the procurement and compliance on EVs.
