Magnitude 6.1 earthquake hits offshore Davao Occidental

A magnitude 6.1 earthquake struck off the coast of Davao Occidental yesterday, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology.

Phivolcs reported the earthquake occurred at 7:07 a.m., was tectonic in origin, with the epicenter located 93 kilometers southeast of Sarangani Island in the municipality of Sarangani, Davao Occidental, at a depth of 85 kilometers.

The tremor was felt at various intensities across parts of Mindanao.

Intensity V was felt at Sarangani, Santa Maria and Malita in Davao Occidental; Glan and Malungon in Sarangani and at Pantukan in Davao de Oro.
