Globe saves P125 M from AI energy usage

Telco-to-tech giant Globe Telecom Inc. is leaning on artificial intelligence (AI) to improve some of its decision-making processes, leading to energy savings of as much as P125 million yearly.

Globe aims to expand the role of Al in network operations, building on the success of its initial foray that led to cost savings from energy efficiency.

Currently, Globe deploys AI tools for energy use, allowing it to change power volume in cellular sites in real time depending on real time network demand.

Globe paired its AI effort with energy management programs to see the cost impact. With its AI tools covering almost 20,000 assets across the archipelago, the telco was able to save more than 11.3 million kWh of electricity in 2024, translating to up to P125 million in savings.
