DILG gets Senate nod for P308.2-B budget

The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) has secured the Senate's approval of its P308.2-billion budget for 2026.

Interior Secretary Jonvic Remulla lauded the Senate's nod, noting the upper chamber's strong support for local governance, peace and order and public safety.

Sen. JV Ejercito, Senate committee on finance vice chairman, sponsored the budget on behalf of the DILG and its attached agencies, with the Philippine National Police (PNP) getting the lion's share at P225.8 billion; followed by the Bureau of Fire Protection, P36.2 million and Bureau of Jail Management and Penology, P31.3 billion.

Other allocations include P8.5 billion for Remulla's office; followed by the National Police Commission with P2.5 billion; National Commission on Muslim Filipinos, P1.2 billion; Philippine Public Safety College, P1.2 billion; Local Government Academy, P544 million; Early Childhood Care and Development Center, P357 million; National Youth Commission, P315 million and Philippine Commission on Women, P205 million.
