DigiPlus braces for impact of new online gaming rivals

DigiPlus Interactive Corp., led by tycoon Eusebio Tanco, is bracing for the impact of emerging players chipping away its dominant share in the country's digital gaming space.

"I'm sure (it will have)," Tanco told The STAR when asked about the potential impact of tycoon Enrique Razon Jr.'s newly launched MegaFUNalo! on the surging digital entertainment company.

"But there are so many players now; everybody is getting into this space," he said.

Tanco, however, said that he always welcomes competition.

To stay ahead, Tanco said they would just have "to work harder and be more creative."

Razon's Bloomberry Resorts Corp. has launched its own online gaming platform called MegaFUNalo! to compete directly with offerings of other electronic gaming license holders, including BingoPlus, the online casino brand developed by DigiPlus.

Analysts believe that if anyone can take on a giant like DigiPlus, it would be someone like Razon, who is already making an aggressive play for market share in the lucrative online gaming space.
