Debt now at P14.51 T

The country’s outstanding debt hit another record high of P14.51 trillion as of end-November last year, largely due to higher domestic securities issuance, according to the Bureau of the Treasury.

The end-November debt level is just 0.19 percent higher than the P14.48 trillion in October last year. On a yearly basis, however, the debt stock picked up further by 6.34 percent from P13.64 trillion in the same period in 2022.

For November alone, the government added some P27.92 billion to the debt pile from the net issuance of domestic securities.

As such, the current debt pile is now 99.2 percent of the expected P14.62 trillion debt by end-2023.
