President Marcos inspected yesterday the implementation of the zero-balance billing policy at a hospital in his home province, Ilocos Norte, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to universal health care.

- HELEN FLORES

Marcos witnessed the discharge of patients from the Mariano Marcos Memorial Hospital and Medical Center (MMMH&MC) in Batac.

The President visited and interacted with patients at the hospital’s oncology, internal medicine and family medicine wards, the Presidential Communications Office said in a statement.

He also checked on its Kangaroo Mother Care and neonatal intensive care units, emphasizing his administration’s focus on maternal, child and critical health care services.

Jose Orosa III, chief of Medical Professional Staff II, said 400 inpatients at MMMH&MC were expected to benefit from the zero-balance billing policy on Sunday alone.
