Many Indian Counselors Need to Offer Perspective to Students

Kunal Mehra, CEO & MD, of Crimson Education speaks to Binita Jaiswal on state board students applying to the US
Many of the Indian schools don't offer IB curriculum. How can students planning to apply to Ivy League colleges still make their profile competitive? Admission officers in the US are very open to seeing students from a variety of backgrounds. The only concern they often have with Indian students is whether the curriculum has been rigorous or whether the grades accurately reflect a child's actual competence. There's been a bit of grade inflation in India over the last 20 years, where kids are now scoring 100 out of 100 in English. This begs the question whether it's easy to get these scores or is the child as good as the scores indicate. To eliminate this, I encourage students to write the AP (Advance Placement) exam.
Are Ivy League colleges fairly evaluating Indian State Boards?
