Doc left cotton inside patient's body, say kin, hold stir

The family members of a government employee staged a protest at a private hospital on Poincare Street on Sunday, alleging medical negligence by a doctor who allegedly left a piece of cotton inside the employee's body during surgery.
S Arulraj (46), a revenue inspector in the civil supplies department of the Puducherry government and a resident of Kamarajar Nagar, Gorimedu, underwent surgery for gallbladder tumour removal at the hospital in December. According to his relative E Babu, Arulraj experienced continued pain post-surgery.
