Police personnel asked to depend on walkie-talkies for communication during duty as mobile networks might get disrupted due to crowd
OVER 2,000 police personnel have been deployed for New Year celebrations in Puducherry to ensure safety and manage traffic. They will be assisted by volunteers. Police said temporary parking areas have been designated, and vehicular entry into White Town will be restricted from Tuesday afternoon to Wednesday morning.
Director General of Police (DGP) Shalini Singh directed a preparatory meet on Monday morning at Sri Aurobindo Ashram Auditorium. Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dr Ajit Kumar Singla and Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG-Law and Order) Sathiya Sundaram led the session for personnel assigned for New Year duties.
