Two killed in car-moped collision near Villupuram

TWO persons, including a former DMK functionary, were killed in a road accident near Villupuram on Tuesday evening when a car collided with a moped and overturned into a roadside pit.
Police said R Vinayagam (73), a resident of Thanthai Periyar Nagar in Villupuram and a farmer by profession, had gone to Puducherry to buy cucumber seeds. He was returning on his moped, carrying a sack of seeds, when the accident occurred.
As he reached the Kolathur junction road on the Nagapattinam-Villupuram National Highway, Vinayagam merged onto the main road. At that moment, a car coming from Puducherry towards Villupuram collided with the moped. Due to the impact, the car lost control and overturned into a roadside pit.
