The Palar River in Tirupattur's Marapattu witnessed excessive frothing yet again on Thursday, after tanneries in Ambur and Vaniyambadi allegedly released untreated effluents into it during the heavy rain over the past few days.

Residents, farmers, and activists have pointed out time and again that leather factories in the vicinity have been releasing untreated effluents directly into the river for over a decade now.
