The memoir turns the lens inward and reveals interesting facets of this star of the 70s cinema

- SATHYA SARAN

Amol Palekar dedicates his memoir to ‘those who believe in the power of resistance’.

Looking at this book, Viewfinder, one sees a quiet, determined fighter who will not let the system, injustice, or conventional practices deter him.

The book brings to life a different image from the one seen in films like Rajnigandha and Gol Maal. In real life, he shows us through the acting he believes in, his own form, or whatever tries to pull him down. Yet, in his own unique way, he never gave much weight to the stormy political satire against a fighting before open spaces.

A formidable producer like R.R. Padamkar, yet again, filling a rare image in real life, next to his dons censorship.

Palekar dons the man, shying from publicity and all the happenings that go with stardom.
