Ashwini Vaishnaw meets industry representatives
THE ban on online money gaming has begun to show its impact, with many gaming companies preparing for job cuts.
Reports suggest Indian online gaming app Mobile Premier League (MPL) is planning to reduce 60% of its workforce—roughly 300 of its 500 employees.
Other gaming companies like Baazi and Games24x7 are also said to be considering cutting up to 50% of their jobs.
Gaming major Nazara Technologies has terminated its deal—announced on September 12, 2024—to acquire a 0.96% equity stake in Moonshine Technology from 13 Interactive Inc.
Moonshine is the parent company of online poker platform PokerBaazi.
As per reports, termination of the deal could result in more than 200 job losses at Moonshine.
Meanwhile, US-based Flutter Entertainment-owned Junglee Rummy Games has said it will absorb most of the 950 employees at its Bengaluru office.
However, company insiders claim nearly 200 employees have already left.
