Suresh Gopi: All steps being taken to ensure smooth conduct of pooram

'A meeting will be convened in New Delhi to discuss issues related to fireworks display'

MINISTER of State for Tourism, Petroleum and Natural Gas Suresh Gopi on Friday told TNIE that interventions were being made to ensure that all aspects of Thrissur Pooram, including fireworks display and waste management, are carried out without any hurdles.

Speaking in Thrissur, Suresh Gopi said that he had held talks with an expert team from Madras IIT to address the waste management issue. All these years, Thrissur Corporation with the support of volunteer groups used to collect waste from Thekkinkad Maidan and dump it at Pallithamam ground before segregation.
