Kerala Has Been Trying to Implement Alternatives to Capitalist Policies

CRITICISING that the BJP-led government in India surrendered its foreign policy and trade policy to America, CPM general secretary M A Baby said that in Kerala, LDF was trying to implement an alternative to the capitalist policies across the world. He was delivering the inaugural speech of EMS Smrithi held in Thrissur, on Friday.

"When CPM meeting was held in Thrissur in 1956, before forming the EMS-led government, among the development vision discussed, there was a Vizhinjam port project as well. This itself indicates the long-term vision the party had in the state," he noted.

He also criticised that even when India is at 4th place in GDP, about 83 crore people are still living in extreme poverty, without food.
