CPM Councillor Denies Assault Charge, Says Police Acted Out of 'Wounded Ego'

CPM councillor A R Unnikrishnan, who has been booked for allegedly assaulting a woman civil police officer at Attukal Bhagavathy Temple, denied the charges and accused the police of acting out of 'wounded ego.' He also said that the case was registered without his knowledge and that he only came to know about it through news reports.

"The incident happened around 11 am and the FIR was registered by 11.15 am. I was not informed about the case or asked for any clarification. This is not politically motivated, but an attempt by the police to show their dominance," said Unnikrishnan.
