The Zilla Parishad general meeting passed a unanimous resolution urging the State government to modernize irrigation and drainage systems in the erstwhile East Godavari district and revive the Drainage Board.
All YSRCP representatives staged a brief walkout, protesting the government's apathy toward farmers.
Civil Supplies officials reported pending paddy procurement dues of ₹80 crore in Kakinada, ₹189 crore in Konaseema, and ₹130 crore in East Godavari districts, and assured steps were underway for prompt payment.
