US President said iPhones sold in the US must be manufactured domestically or will face a tariff of at least 25%
IN his second warning to iPhone manufacturer Apple within a week not to manufacture its iPhone in India, US President Donald Trump on Friday instructed the tech giant to manufacture iPhones sold in the United States domestically—or face a 25% tariff.
Trump, on Truth Social, said that he had told Apple CEO Tim Cook to ensure that iPhones intended for American consumers are made within the US, "not in India or anywhere else."
"I have long ago informed Tim Cook of Apple that I expect their iPhones that will be sold in the United States of America will be manufactured and built in the United States, not India, or anyplace else. If that is not the case, a Tariff of at least 25% must be paid by Apple to the U.S. Thank you for your attention to this matter!," said Trump.
