LOK Sabha Speaker Om Birla will hear the rebel MPs of the Trinamool Congress (TMC) as well as the party faction led by Mamata Banerjee before deciding on giving recognition to the breakaway faction, sources have said.
The speaker’s office has sent an email to the Banerjee-led faction seeking its view, a source added.
On Sunday, the dissident group led by MP Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar met the Speaker and said it had merged with Tripura-based the Nationalist Citizens Party of India. It claimed the support of 20 party MPs.
