New drivers will face probation with points system for traffic rule violations
STARTING next year, a new two-year probation period will be introduced for fresh drivers, aiming to reduce road accidents. The Motor Vehicles Department (MVD) plans to roll out the system as early as April. During the probation, new licence holders will incur negative points for traffic violations. Accumulating multiple offences will require them to restart the entire licensing process.
