Weaver community should be included in ST category

"THE weaver community is backward and relies on the 'work is worship' principle. This community should be included in the Scheduled Tribe category that would pave the way for development of the community economically, socially and politically," said C S Chandrabhupala, chairman of the District-level Guarantee Scheme Implementation Authority.

He was speaking after inaugurating the Devara Daseemaiah Jayanthi programme in the city on Wednesday. Speaking after paying tribute to the 10th century Vachana writer, Chandrabhupal lauded Daseemaiah's profound philosophy of self-reliance which emphasised the importance of hard work and honesty.

"Dasimayya's teachings are a beacon of hope for humanity, showing us that divinity resides in the simplest of acts, like weaving," he said.
