Vibrant Fervour Marks Maha Shivaratri

Devotees thronged temples across Shivamogga to offer prayers and participate in religious ceremonies

Devotees from across the district marked Maha Shivaratri with great enthusiasm on Wednesday, offering prayers and participating in religious ceremonies at various temples.

Shiva temples were adorned with colorful lights and fresh garlands as thousands of worshippers gathered to seek blessings. At temples in Shivamogga, special pujas and rituals began early in the morning.

Devotees thronged the temples, immersed in devotion. The Harakere Shiva temple saw an elaborate celebration, featuring an early morning abhisheka, special prayers and offerings of bilva leaves and sacred water. Arrangements were made to facilitate special darshan for devotees.

Many worshippers followed the tradition of taking a dip in the Tunga River before visiting temples.
