District BJP Welcomes Union Govt's Decision To Take Up Caste Census

Former minister and state BJP vice-president Haratalu Halappa said he would welcome the Central Government decision for caste enumeration in census and urged the central government to take up socio-economic survey as part of it.
Talking to press persons here on Friday, Haratalu Halappa, terming the decision of caste-based census as a wise decision, said it was way back in 1938 by then British Government such an initiative was undertaken and that report paved the way for the government to introduce various schemes to uplift the poor and backward castes.
