477 cases in 15 months: Worry in the Hills as HIV infection up in Kumaon

A sharp rise in HIV cases in Uttarakhand's Kumaon region has sparked concerns about public health.
Figures from the Dr Sushila Tiwari Government Hospital (STH) reveal that a staggering 477 new cases of HIV were detected in just a span of 15 months.
The antiretroviral therapy (ART) centre of the facility in Kumaon has recorded around five new cases daily. Dr Vaibhav Kumar, nodal officer and senior physician at the hospital's ART centre, has described the situation as "serious" and stressed the need for raising awareness to arrest the worrying trend.
