MLA Tanveer Sait says Basavanna's vision guide humanity even today

MYSURU came alive with vibrant celebrations on Wednesday as devotees, scholars and leaders gathered to mark Basava Jayanti, commemorating the birth anniversary of 12th century philosopher and social reformer Basavanna.

The event was highlighted by floral tributes, felicitation of achievers and a special lecture organised by the district administration in association with the department of Kannada and Culture.

At the statue of Basaveshwara near Gun House Circle, elected representatives, including MLAs, community leaders, and a large number of followers, paid homage to the revered leader. During the state event, Narasimharaja MLA Tanveer Sait, in his address, praised Basavanna's vision of a casteless and genderless society and stated that the Congress government is committed to upholding his philosophy.

"Basavanna envisioned a society free of caste, gender, and inequality--a vision that continues to guide humanity even today," Tanveer Sait said, adding, "We must not merely remember his teachings but imbibe and live by them."
