Cabinet Meet at MM Hills Raises Hope Among Locals

Elected representatives have appealed for irrigation, housing, health and infrastructure projects in the much-anticipated meeting

As the countdown has begun for the much-awaited cabinet meeting at the Male Mahadeshwara Hills on Thursday, expectations are running high in the old Mysuru region, particularly in the backward district of Chamarajanagar.

The meeting was postponed twice for various reasons. It is now scheduled to take place on April 24, giving a boost to the morale of local elected representatives who hope to secure programmes and grants for the district.

Despite being carved out on August 15, 1997, by then chief minister J H Patel, Chamarajanagar district has seen limited development, and remains among the most backward regions in the state. The lack of progress, especially in rain-fed areas, continues to hamper its growth.
