Aspirants Slam Govt Delay in Appointing UGC-Qualified Lecturers
The New Indian Express Mysuru
|April 11, 2025
EXPRESSING concern and disappointment over the prolonged delay and confusion surrounding the recruitment of guest lecturers in Government First Grade Colleges, the candidates who cleared UGC-NET exam alleged that the state government's actions are unfairly favouring non-UGC-qualified candidates and undermining the merit-based selection process.
Speaking to media persons here on Thursday, candidates Mahesha R, D Lingaraj, and Chandresh Prasad A C said while the division bench of the Karnataka High Court later upheld the earlier directive in December 2024, the government still failed to act decisively.
They highlighted that the Department of Collegiate Education had issued a notification on August 30, 2024, to fill vacant guest lecturer posts. However, the process took a turn when the Karnataka High Court, in its September 5, 2024 order, directed that only UGC-qualified candidates—those with NET, K-SET, or PhD—should be considered eligible.
