5-yr-old girl killed in Hubballi, cops shoot dead accused

In a shocking incident, a five-year-old girl was found dead inside a toilet of an under-construction building in Adhyapak Nagar of Hubballi on Sunday.

The police took swift action and managed to arrest the accused within a few hours of the crime.

In the evening, when the accused was trying to escape from the police, he was shot dead by Police Sub-Inspector Annapoorna.

The accused, Ritesh Kumar, 35, from Patna in Bihar was accused of kidnapping and murdering the girl, said Police Commissioner N Shashi Kumar.

The girl's father had gone to work, while the girl was playing outside the house where her mother was working.

The accused came to the house, lured the girl and took her.

All this was confirmed from the CCTV footage from the spot.
