KPCC general secretary Padmaraj R Poojary maintained that there are no obstacles to celebrating Hindu festivals in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi with devotion and tradition. He further accused the BJP of unnecessarily turning it into an issue.

Talking to reporters on Wednesday, Padmaraj said, "Some legislators have raised concerns in the Assembly claiming that Hindu festivals are being obstructed in the coastal districts. This is completely false. The BJP itself has always tried to politicise religious matters, and is now making baseless allegations again. The reality is that there has never been any obstruction from the state government when festivals are celebrated with faith and devotion," he said.

He pointed out that during the BJP government, laws regarding timings were introduced with the Supreme Court judgment, and it is the duty of officials to ensure compliance. "Even then, the district administration and police had allowed celebrations with devotion, and the same will continue.
